Our St. John the Baptist parish family has committed to a stewardship way of life. And, this year, we are looking at the lives of the saints to aid us on our stewardship journey. When we look to the saints as examples, we become inspired to open our hearts to what God is asking of us here and now in our own lives. One of the many beauties of the saints is that no two saints are the same-each saint's story is unique. During our annual Stewardship Renewal, let each of us strive to discover how God is calling us to become a saint. This weekend marks the end of our formal Stewardship Renewal weekends. Thank you to all of those who have returned their commitment cards already. Even though our renewal weekends are drawing to a close, it is NOT too late to participate. It is never too late to pray about how God is calling you to use your time, talent and treasure to tangibly live out your faith. Take a few minutes this week to do so. We invite you to join us for a virtual journey through the Holy Land and make Jesus the center of your life by joining us for Jesus: The Way, the Truth, and the Life, a 10-week program that explores the entirety of Jesus’ life and what he means for us as Catholics today. Our parish will begin the Jesus study on October 6 at 7PM. Participants will meet every week to view an engaging video presentation by Marcellino D’Ambrosio, Jeff Cavins, and Edward Sri, followed by a lively group discussion and fellowship. For more information or to register, contact Judy Kreczmer at 815-353-6562 or [email protected]. We hope you can join us! (Registration form is available by clicking the title).
Catholic Charities has asked for assistance again this year in helping those in need this holiday season. Due to the unusual nature of 2020, they have requested all gifts be in the form of gift cards in increments of $25 to stores accessible to most people and that carry a variety of items, including food. Please turn in gift cards by Sunday, December 6th. Gift cards may be dropped in the collection at Mass, dropped off at the office, or mailed. Thank you for your generosity!
